Emerald Isle Real Estate
On the western end of Bogue Banks, the town of Emerald Isle covers almost half of the 26-mile long island. Development of Emerald Isle did not begin until the 1950s, when a group of investors began working to turn the area into a beach resort. Today, with a permanent population of about 3,500, Emerald Isle is home to about 50,000 during peak tourist months. Once connected the mainland only by ferry, a high-rise bridge now connects the town to Cape Carteret.
